BRUGGINK & MARTINS
ESTHER BRUGGINK Objects
Esther Bruggink creates sculptures, video art and embroideries. Like thoughts and dreams her images are light and elusive, almost not being there. Most of the time Esther works with polyester film, a white transparent plastic, as thin as paper, which she sews the pieces together. Especially in this time she wants to use a technique that by its inertia is demanding for attention and concentration. This inertia and stillness you also can see in the appearance of her work.
CRISTINA MARTINS Drawings
The drawings of Cristina Martens are often life-size. In her work she is looking for that what is behind the pose. In opposite of the polished surface we like to show is an intense life. Intensity is being open and honest, with intensity you gain much, but you also will lose some: you wear out. The imperfection, the demolition is a part of it. And that imperfection will break slowly through that varnish layer which we like to cover ourselves with. In her drawings she mainly wants to show us the consequences when scratching off the glossy layer of the pose.
